I was going about my business, editing stories for my publication Heart Speak when I came across some of the most sage wisdom I have heard in a long time.

In an article titled, Fill Your Own Cup First, Felicity Love ❤ shared why self-care must come before everything else. She lays out five ways in which we can practice compassion toward ourselves.

They were all relevant, excellent reminders, advice I often share in my work as an intuitive reader and writer. Then I came across one that I needed to hear. It was a clear message, you know the way things are so very clear when you finally pay attention and take them in.

Give yourself permission to rest

Felicity’s third step was about rest. For the past several years I have been trying to make friends with the idea that I can give myself permission to rest. I read on and her words stopped me in my tracks…

“Many of us push ourselves to the brink of exhaustion, thinking that we’ll only be worthy of rest once we’ve completed everything on our to-do lists.”
