Take Me Home, To a Land Unknown
A Poem About Nostalgia of Unfamiliar Land
“Take me home, to a land unknown,
I’m a stranger in this land I’ve known,
Where I took my very first breath,
Somewhere out there, a home in depth.
It gave me much, this place of birth,
Two letters penned, both with untruth.
Schools where children bear the weight,
A right to heal, if it’s not too late.
Protection’s granted, if you’re in the fold,
A job, they say, but the truth unfolds.
Punishment awaits those who dare,
To voice dissent in the open air.
A pittance granted, for silence they seek,
I yearn to leave, where voices speak,
Somewhere out there, a home to be,
Among strangers, my heart set free.”
