Try This Next Time You Fly
I wish I had done this
It was July, my daughter and I had to catch a plane, we were cutting it close but all we needed to do was call an Uber and get to the nearby airport. Ubers usually take no more than five minutes to arrive.
Except neither one of us had remembered to install the Uber app.
Noo! I had thought of every detail for this trip. I had planned, made to-do lists, created an itinerary…but somehow I forgot the first step to this journey, getting to the airport.
I downloaded the app in a hurry, it was okay, all my info was saved and it was up quickly, okay, breathe. Another snag, the nearest Uber was 17 minutes away!
“Let’s walk,” Scarlet said as we stood on the sidewalk, suitcases in tow.
“Walk?” I looked down the street, it grew in length as I imagined the long blocks between us and the airport.
“It’s not that far and we have no time to wait for an Uber.” She pulled her suitcase into motion.
We walked, fast, pushing against the one-hour deadline before our flight took off as if it was pre-2001 and we could do that.
We made it! TSA’s line was moving too. We got to the podium. The stop before the hurried land of taking off…
