Madeline spent almost the entire day Saturday studying, interrupted only by her mother demanding she leave the room for lunch. By six o’clock Madeline was thinking it must be time for another break when there was knock at her door and her mum peeked into the room again.
“You have a visitor.” She pushed the door wide open to reveal Jarrett standing behind her. “I’m about to head out, so you two have use of the whole house, if you want to venture out of this room.” She glanced at Jarrett. “She’s barely left this room all day. I highly recommend you pull her away from these books and get her a change of scenery, if you can.”
“I’ll do my best,” Jarrett promised.
“Great.” Leandra turned to Madeline. “I’ve got my phone if you need me, otherwise, you two have fun. See you in the morning!”
