Madeline watched Jarrett walk off, with absolutely no idea what on earth had just happened.
She was having the sweetest date of her life, and then… what? It had developed into a fight about inequality.
She cursed herself for not waking up to the fact earlier. How could she not have realised Jarrett was from a rich family?
She knew Jarrett’s parents had sent him to college, so of course they must have some sort of money behind them. Plus he’d been the one with the connections to the resort, to the fancy restaurant. He’d bought the most expensive meal on the menu.
She made her own way home, feigning tiredness so she didn’t have to stay and chat with her mum.
