Madeline closed her eyes and rested her head against the back wall of the bus stop.
What on earth was she doing?
She’d never made such an outburst in all her life, and now she’d done it in front of an entire restaurant of people.
And Jarrett.
She pressed the heel of her hand into her eyes.
He was a loser. She’d decided that already. So why did it hurt so much to be disappointed about him? Why had she let herself believe his few moments of decency were examples of who he really was, inside?
