Madeline’s first day in the ice-cream van flew by in a rush of people.
It was nice inside the van, which was located under a group of palm trees that offered a little shade and a great view of the beach, further down the hill.
Hope helped Madeline ease into her role, having cones at the ready when people ordered during the slow morning, which gave Madeline a little more time to figure out the location of all the strange flavours.
She made only one mess, when in her nerves she let go of a six-scoop ice-cream before the customer had a proper grip, and it splattered all over their shirt and onto the ground.
“So sorry about that,” Madeliene spluttered. She made them another as Hope returned their money, and promised the resort’s laundromat could take care of any stains on their clothes.
