Madeline sat on the toilet, her head in her hands.
The way he’d looked at her when he apologised for the way they seemed thrown together stuck in her mind. Like he was hurting inside.
Was that because of her attitude?
His gaze as it held hers had been so intense.
Her heart fluttered at the thought.
Was Hope right?
Madeline dismissed the idea.
As if Jarrett would be attracted to her.
Maybe he’s shy.
Hope’s words echoed in her mind.
Madeline thought about the way he behaved in class, and the few occasions she’d seen him out of it. Always acting the clown. It seemed to her he loved being the centre of attention. He wasn’t shy.
