Weekly State of The Pad: Third Week of April 2022: Good Monday Edition!
Welcome to the eighth in our series of Weekly State of the Pad articles produced by Co-Founder Conor (me!). This article mainly covers the runup to our launch on BSC and some continued progress we have made on Hedera’s smart contracts. As usual, we couldn’t do it without our superstar development team! I am so proud to be able to work with such an amazing group of individuals!
Launching HederaStarter
I will begin this article with the disclaimer that will remain at the top of every article going forward until we launch, what chain we are deploying on and the logic behind it! We are currently, at the time of writing, preparing for an initial deployment on Binance Smart Chain in early May with the TGE occurring on BSC and then — as we see the progress necessary for a full deployment of HederaStarter and all of our smart contracts and their dependencies on Hedera Hashgraph (not a blockchain, i.e. based on blocks) — we will migrate to Hedera mainnet and really get the show going on native Hedera utilizing their new Besu EVM!

Overall Weekly Status
Happy Post-Good Friday, Easter and now Good Monday y’all! We’ve made it through the overindulgence of cheap Easter chocolate and marshmallow eggs and have come out the other side happy and fully replenished on all of our sugar levels! Sugar comas aside, we’re practically in the home stretch with everything! The v1.0 of the dApp is coming along swimmingly and now it’s a matter of clearing up dates for launches and determining if we want to do an early dApp launch prior to the TGE, my thoughts are yes but we’ll have to see how all of it pans out. We’ve also started exploring a side project that was requested to us by many people within the community so now it’s a matter of shifting some resources over to that venture ;). So to summarize, I’d say the dApp is a solid 99.9% finished and ready to go, so get ready as we ramp up things over the coming 3 weeks!
F(rontend)inishing Touches
As everyone saw from the screenshots I posted last week the work on the FE is in the final stages and as of right now the team is primarily focused on tweaking details and creating the best presentation of our dApp as possible. They’re not simply slapping on fonts/logos and some random odds and ends, they’re critically examining the design to ensure the v1.0 of the dApp is as mint as possible, and they’re doing a great job at that! Also, regardless of Metamask mobile being a bit wonky when it comes to interaction on mobile devices the mobile optimization of the dApp itself is nearly finished and more UI/UX details are being sorted as we speak! We should also have a brand-spanking new landing page coming soon!

Albeit a bit less sexier than the great visuals being deployed on the FE side of the development house, the work being completed on the BE is ensuring that we are going to have the most robust launchpad dApp on Hedera and the wider crypto ecosystem. Lots of effort is being poured into ensuring that our BE is as air tight as possible and while it isn’t the coolest job from an outside (non-coder) observer it is one of the most important as having a good FE and lackluster backend is like having a castle gate to a trailer park, it just doesn’t work!
C(ontracts)overing All Our Bases!
We’ve continued diving into the work on the Hedera EVM/smart contract side around tokens and NFTs and the HTS to fully digest as much as possible in that realm of knowledge and we’ve potentially come upon an idea that I personally want to get built into the v1.5/v2.0 of the HederaStarter dApp. I won’t speak to what it is specifically but I feel like it’s something that our developers, with their sheer skill and abilities, could easily accomplish and become a market leader in this regard. But all of this is still in the works and takes time and maybe we’ll have some more details further on, best to stay tuned!
Key Takeaways From the Third Week of April
Just as most of you have (hopefully) been enjoying the time with your friends and families (and the Easter goodies!) we’ve been enjoying putting the finishing touches on the HederaStarter dApp v1.0. We take this part of the process very seriously because in my own experience I’ve seen teams run 95.0% of the race and then coast into the finish line only to have more issues/quality problems/bugs arise/exploits develop etc. So while it may look like the developer team is merely adding the final 1.0% of work to be done, that final bit of polish being applied to our dApp is immensely important and a failure here could ruin the entire project. But I’m confident that with the amount of dedication and effort the development team has been placing into the entire project, it won’t be an issue! We’re on track towards the first week of May launch and potentially some demo time before that as well, things are shaping up quite nicely y’all!
