When you are daydreaming about Christmas, you see the tree, the lights, the mistletoe, and the gifts you sought after for weeks to make your beloved ones happy. But what really reminds you of Christmas is the Christmas table filled with food. Traditions are strong and even if you likely to tried to break new ground in Christmas dinner menu and explored new recipes, you eventually unearthed the old family cookbook for that special taste you were longing for.

I was curious about what are the most popular dishes in the European countries and not so surprisingly, the traditions have common ground. It goes without saying that eating fish and turkey on Christmas Eve is widespread across the continent but who knows where twelve dishes are served? I collected a handful of typical Christmas dishes and drinks and put them on this interactive infographic. You will see the meals if you hover your cursor over the photo.
