Some of these rankings may make you feel uncomfortable…

But probably not as uncomfortable as the GIANTS MAKING DANIEL JONES TELL ELI HE WAS BENCHED!…ok that didn’t happpen…probably.

Before we get to the Power Rankings here are the points update (first sorted by Actual Points and then by Optimal Points).

Few observations:

  1. As much as we will continue to make fun of them for their mutual masturbation, Troy and Brett kind of are in a league of their own. It’s early so they should cool it on the fondling, but they’re averaging 50+ ppg in AP and 40+ ppg in OP.
  2. Calhoun is maximizing his roster. He’s 4th…4th in AP but would fall to 8th in OP. His optimal roster only scored 2 more points than his actual roster in Week 2. His optimal roster also included 3 TEs…I’ll give Sarlo a chance to do something with his boner after reading that sentence.
  3. The bottom tier looks pretty clear when those are side-by-side…

With that in mind, let’s jump into the power ranks. [Note: Instead of the point totals for AP and OP, I’ll just place your rank since the points can be found above.]

TIER 4

12 — ANDREW BARTELL (0–2, 12th AP, 11th OP, -3)

The people spoke after last week’s power ranks and I listened. Head wanted to be 12th and here he is. With the announcement that he is selling, any hope of a bounce back could be sent out with the laundry. A team already in the bottom 2 of both AP and OP this train wreck could get fatal soon. In fact, if Maricel wins money on DK again this week we may have to put Head under 24-hour surveillance.

11 — MIKE ALTBAUM (1–1, 10th AP, 10th OP -1)

After a great week one, Josh Jacobs disappointed fantasy owners by showing in a losing game script he’s not going to be out there for passing downs. In fact, he only has one target so far in two weeks. (Earmuffs Billy) The Raiders are probably going to be in a lot of losing game scripts.

10 — DAN MARINO (0–2, 11th AP, 12 OP +2)

“Knowing [Dave] I’m not getting out anytime soon” — Dan Marino on being in the basement.

YOU DON’T KNOW ME! Ok, you’re kind of still in the basement. This is the bottom tier, but you moved up two spots! Why? Mostly because of Patrick Mahomes. While your hope of a playoff shot dwindles with each passing moment, I do think there is room on this roster to upset some people here and there.

TIER 3

9 — IAN CROSBY (0–2, 7th AP, 9th OP, -2)

Another team who wanted to be lower, and what do ya know? I’m nothing if not compliant. Deebo Samuel has a 20% target share despite less than a 50% snap share. As his playing time increases, I would assume so would his opportunities. Also, Rashad Penny ran fast and scored. That’s good.

8 — STEVE CALHOUN (1–1, 4th AP, 8th OP, +3)

Perhaps it’s my personal bias against a team that doesn’t trade, but I can’t move him higher than 8th yet. As mentioned above, it only takes on of his big performers (John Ross, Mark Andrews) to cool off or any of his starters to miss time and he doesn’t have the replacements necessary to keep up this pace.

7 — NICK SARLO (1–1, 9th AP, 7th OP, -1)

Only through two weeks and Sarlo already begins his descent down the power ranks, hate to see it. He’s still got the players to ascend the ranks, but they’ll have to put it together on the same weeks and/or get healthy. A few things breaking right won’t hurt either. Does Michael Gallup injury open up more for Randall Cobb? Does CJ Anderson getting cut make Kerryon Johnson a 3-down back?

6 — BILLY DAVIS (1–1, 6th AP, 6th OP, +2)

Billy has been the most consistent of scorers. There’s a 3 point difference between his Weeks 1 & 2 AP and a 5 point difference in his OP in those weeks. If Billy can weather the storm through the Tyreek injury, he could be in a position to make some noise toward the second half of the year.

5 — CHRIS BLACK (1–1, 8th AP, 5th OP, E)

So I’m realizing that 9–5 are just ranked according to their OP. I doubt you’ll believe or not give me crap for it, but I did the rankings order before I finished week 2’s OP…Anyway, I called that Christian Kirk breakout after week 1, didn’t I? I may have said it would hurt Larry Fitz and therefore Chris, but whatever.

TIER 2

4 — DAVE HALLAHAN (2–0, 3rd AP, 3rd OP, E)

Hallahan is actually getting the least out of his team with almost a 100 point differential between AP and OP. Now a third of that was the decision to start Aaron Rodgers over Lamar Jackson in Week 1…which was totally a team decision. JuJu has yet to have a huge game but without Big Ben, will he?

3 — DAVE FALCONE (2–0, 5th AP, 4th OP, -2)

Well, he was warned. I hope you’ve learned your lesson. I’m not sure that Falcone can think it’s a good thing that both DJax and Alshon are likely to miss weeks, but it will make setting the lineup easier. We’ll see if that translates into more AP or not.

TIER 1

There is a changing of the guard…PS that was Falcone falling

2 — BRETT POULTON (0–2, 2nd AP, 1st OP +1)

BPou and Troy are separated by less than 6 AP and .1 OP. Their teams are close. Perhaps BPou will take his own advice and put some respect on DJ Chark’s name and actually start him. Speaking of things BPou told us, remember all summer hearing about how Manny Sanders was going to comeback. Well, he did. When’s he going to start? It really must suck to have such a good team.

1 — TROY ALTBAUM (2–0, 1st AP, 2nd OP, +1)

There’s a new king in town and despite lackluster performances from CMC and Jared Goff, Troy is 2–0 with the most points scored. And looking at that roster, there may still be room to grow.
