Week 2 HDL Power Rankings

Week 2 was an absolute, though not literal, bloodbath. Barkley, CMC, Mostert, and Sutton will all miss at least multiple weeks. And this after Week 1 saw Thomas, Kittle, Crowder, and Bell go down. I’m sure I’m missing some but that because they’re on your team and your team is bad. With injuries changing the landscape of many teams, let’s see how the power ranks shake out…

12 — Kangaroo on the Barbie (0–2, 12th, E)

For Calhoun’s sake, I hope he never gets that close to a win again. That must have been stressful. Calhoun could be without a QB if Jimmy G doesn’t play this week, that should help with the tanking. Sutton’s injury should help him have better idea of what he got in first round pick Jerry Jeudy as well.

11 — YEEZY 2020 (1–1, 11th pts, E)

I know, after a win and you’re still 11th. Despite squeaking out the W, Marino still put up a bottom 3 score. Mahomes and Sanders did their part, but that’s about it. The supporting cast will have to step up if this team would like to see a rise in the rankings.

10 — Cohen’s Book Tour (1–1, 10th, -1)

Man, after expressing disapproval of your ranking and even going so far as to call out the ranker as being bitter because Benny Snell is better than James Conner…you gotta give me more than the second lowest score of the week. Also, Taysom Hill doesn’t seem to be a recipe for success.

9 — CDC Lamb (0–2, 7th pts, +1)

Middle of the road in points through two weeks…in the single digit power ranks…this is aight. Going to be hard to get wins in this division, but Ian could play spoiler during the intra-division games. The WR position is still a weak spot and if the injuries start attacking this team like they have others, he’ll be in trouble quick.

Note: The next three teams are certainly a tier and I couldn’t decide what to do with them, so I kept them in the same order as last week. Some shifting could be coming soon…

8 — Corn Pop’s Pool Party (1–1, 6th pts, E)

Sarlo’s feeling a little bit more confident around the pool now that he beat Chris and leads the division. He’s done all this without Kenny Golladay. Joshua Kelley made headlines during the shortened off-season but he’s getting closer and closer to being a 1-for-1 swap in the Melvin Gordon role for the Chargers.

7 — NH4NO3 or Bust (1–1, 8th pts, E)

The sleep walk to the playoffs was short lived for Chris and the gang. I still expect positive regression from Allen Robinson and as soon as this week. Despite the loss, Chris’ 180+ performance was respectable and he’s still the favorite for the division…but maybe not for long.

6 — Bacon, Lettuce, ‘Matos (2–0, 9th pts, -1)

The demise of James Conner was greatly exaggerated

After being one of four teams with a score of 200+ in week one, Hallahederer scored in the bottom four and lucked out with a matchup against Calhoun. A playoff run is gonna be hard fought, if it happens. There are plenty of concerns, but the injuries attack others may work out well for this team. Jerrick McKinnon and Dion Lewis both look to have more prominent roles in the near term. And don’t look know but another RB whose demise had been announced after being cut by his former team could be rising from the ashes as well.

5 — Führerdelphia Eagles (1–1, 5th pts, -1)

After rising 3 spots from pre-season to week 1, Abaum sees a slight slip. He’s still a very clear contender as long as the rest of his team can stay healthy. Lamar Jackson won’t often put up sub-20 point performances.

4 — Fantasy Football Team (0–2, 3rd pts, +2)

Can’t celebrate a win this week, but Falcone and Timberlake can enjoy a rise in the rankings. Despite being his division’s version of a bye week, this Dave has sits third in total points scored. If he figured out which QB to start each week and/or the Falcons start using Todd Gurley instead of Ito Smith in the redzone, this team could continue ascending.

3 — Black Mamba Down (2–0, 2nd, -2)

BPou when he sees this ranking

Second most points through two weeks, two wins through two weeks, why the slip in the ranking? Well, everyone but BPou knows. Barkley is a key part of his offense and this team is deep enough to replace a decent percentage of those points. BUT it’s still a huge loss and the teams ahead of him are deep as well. We also don’t know what Adams status is, Hilton has been a zero in two weeks, and aside from one garbage time quarter Minnesota’s offense has been bad too.

2 — OBJ #2 Receiver (1–1, 1st pts, +1)

The kid came to fight and he’s doing pretty well. I spent much of last week making fun of his RB, but it was mostly for the gif. They stepped up this week and even though he’ll be without Mostert for a few weeks, Billy looks to be in good position to take advantage of BPou’s woes.

1 — Wu-Han Clan (2–0, 4th pts, +2)

Started from the top and now he’s here…again. After a slow start of the year, Troy came back and put up week twos top score without Kittle or Thomas and only 4 points from Julio. This week, and several following, he’ll be without CMC. That will certainly hurt and may mean he’ll incur a few losses along the way, but clearly this team has the depth to compete with every team even when they’re not at full strength.
