Do you have to seek inspiration?

Absolutely. But it is amazing where it can pop up with an open mind. When I lived in San Francisco, I used to like to walk through China Town. The packaging and signage are so different from their western equivalents, it promotes fresh thinking. Nature also inspires me. The complex systems involved that, somehow seem so simple. That is a great benchmark for design and development.

Name a color. Talk about it.

Green. I have always loved green. It is calming and serene and also vibrant and vital. In art and design, it is remarkably versatile. It can be tinted and toned, muted and brightened without losing its core qualities.

What software/product would you like to redesign?

Microsoft Word. It is a bloated and antiquated piece of software that feels like it was slapped together to keep up with the times. It is unintuitive and cluttered, and difficult to use, considering it is a glorified typewriter. Imagine a piece of soap that is actually 50 pieces of used up soap, that have been fused together. Except old soap will still get you clean. Using Word always makes me feel dirty.

OK, rant over.
