Have you ever completely fallen for someone, only to later realize that person wasn’t at all who you thought they were?

Have you ever obsessed about the future with someone that you don’t actually know very well?

Have you ever been completely blind-sided by someone’s actions not matching their words?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you might have a habit of falling in love with fantasies. Meaning, you fall for your idea of who someone is, rather than for who they’re truly being.

This is common and can be confusing, because the line between a real person and your fantasized version of that person can be shockingly thin! It’s true, this person probably does embody your idea of perfection in small moments. Most likely, this person has at least once made you feel like you were in a magical too-good-to-be-true story. This person aligns with your image of perfect just long enough so that you believe that they will live up to all of your hopes and dreams.
