I finally watched Bridgerton: Queen Charlotte, and it was worth every minute. I love all things romance but don’t just watch from the surface anymore; I now look for lessons and links to real life and reality.

Can we explain, ‘I cannot breathe when you are near’

Really? So now you can’t breathe! I joke, of course. It’s beautiful, it made my heart stop, and the lover in me soaked it all up — but the realist in me told myself to get it together. This is just what they want from us viewers.

We have to think about the context; this man was proclaiming his love for his wife, whom he had pushed away repeatedly because he didn’t want her to know about his mental condition.

It was not an everyday occurrence, they had been through thick and thin together, and Queen Charlotte had persevered and decided to stay with him no matter what.

Love is a choice

With romantic relationships, you decide to choose to stay or go. In Queen Charlotte’s case, she decided to forgive after being deceived about the king’s mental state.
