Simply put, it’s a set of beliefs or attitudes that guide your thinking and behavior.

There are two main types of mindsets: fixed and growth. People with a fixed mindset believe that their talents and abilities are static. They think that they’re either born with certain traits or they’re not. People with a growth mindset believe that their talents and abilities can be developed over time. They’re not afraid of challenge and actually view setbacks as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Change Your Language

The first step is to become aware of the language you use to talk to yourself. Do you find yourself using words like “can’t,” “never,” and “won’t?” If so, those words need to go! Why? Because they foster a fixed mindset. When you tell yourself that you can’t do something, you’re giving up before you even start. You’re putting limits on yourself before you even have a chance to stretch beyond them. So instead of telling yourself that you can’t do something, try saying “I’m not there yet,” or “I need more practice.” These phrases promote a growth mindset and remind you that with hard work and determination, anything is possible!

Embrace Challenges & Setbacks

If you want to change your mindset, you need to start seeing challenges as an opportunity for growth instead of something to be avoided at all costs. When faced with a challenge, ask yourself “What can I learn from this?” instead of “Why is this happening to me?” By looking at challenges in this way, you’ll start seeing them as an opportunity for growth instead of an insurmountable hurdle. And when you do face setbacks (because let’s face it, we all do), don’t forget that they’re temporary! Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward toward your goals. Remember, progress not perfection!

Find A Mentor or Role Model

One of the best ways to change your mindset is to find someone who has already achieved what you want to achieve and learn from them! This could be someone in your personal life or someone who is famous (or infamous). Read their story and look for patterns in their journey. What did they do when they were faced with adversity? How did they stay motivated when things got tough? By studying the success stories of others, you’ll be able to develop a roadmap for your own success.
