I’ve listened to men complain that women lose interest in them after only a few dates, for no clear reason. I’ve listened to women complain about what the men did. From all this listening, I’ve identified a text that men are sending to women that seems to be causing women to lose interest.

Here’s the scenario: A guy went on a few dates with a woman he likes, and — good news! — she liked him back.

On a Friday night, the guy texted the woman, “Doing anything this weekend?”

That seemingly simple, nice, polite, and quite-common text marked the beginning of the end of the burgeoning relationship.

Let me break this down so that those of you out there experiencing the joys of online dating can understand how this text — and the mindset behind this text —can lead to 6 different dead ends in dating.

Ending 1: She gets backed into a corner.

Let’s say she texts back “No”.
