Here Are the Quiet Abuses Men Are Too Ashamed to Admit
The dark side of ‘good girls’ no one talks about.
I’ve never quite understood why so many men believe that not cheating automatically means love. It’s as if loyalty alone has become the ultimate proof of devotion, even when everything else in the relationship is quietly rotting beneath the surface.
I’ve seen men stay in situations that drain their spirit, erode their confidence, and leave them questioning their sanity — yet they hold on tightly, whispering the same excuse: “She’s never cheated.”
Somehow, that one fact becomes the anchor they cling to while they drown.
When my friend Chris told me he was on the verge of losing his mind, I thought he was finally ready to free himself. I told him what any sane person would — that he deserved peace, that love isn’t supposed to feel like constant anxiety, that leaving doesn’t make him weak. I expected a sense of relief, maybe even quiet resolve.
But instead, he broke down right there, his voice trembling as he said, “I can’t leave her. She’s loyal. She’s never given me a reason to doubt her.”
That word — loyal — hit me harder than anything else. It sounded noble, but in that moment, it was a chain.
