Changing your habits can be difficult. In fact, it’s so difficult that most people never actually do it. They might have the best of intentions at the beginning of the year, but by February they’ve already fallen off track. If you want to change your life, you need to be prepared to work hard and unlearning some of your old bad habits. This blog post will walk you through the process of changing your habits in 3 months, so that you can finally achieve the success you’ve been dreaming of!

Change one habit at a time

Trying to change multiple habits at once is like herding cats — it’s chaotic and rarely successful. A better approach is to focus on changing one habit at a time. Establishing a new routine is hard enough without having to worry about overhauling your entire lifestyle. So take things one step at a time and give yourself a better chance of success. Choose the habit you want to change, and then make a plan for how you’re going to do it. Set yourself up for success by creating a supportive environment and finding a buddy to help keep you accountable. And don’t get discouraged if you have setback — just keep trying until you finally break the old habit and establish the new one. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.

Be patient — it takes time to form new habits

Anyone who has ever tried to change their eating, exercise, or sleep habits knows that it takes more than just a few days of effort to form a new habit. In fact, research suggests that it can take anywhere from two weeks to eight months to develop a new habit. That’s a lot longer than most of us would like it to take! But the good news is that the more effort we put into forming a new habit, the more likely we are to stick with it in the long run. So if you’re trying to make a change in your life, be patient and give yourself time to adjust. The results will be worth it!

Celebrate each accomplishment, no matter how small

Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows that the battle is often won or lost in the mind. It’s easy to get discouraged when the scale doesn’t budge, or when you step on the scale and see that you’ve actually gained a few pounds. That’s why it’s so important to celebrate each and every accomplishment, no matter how small. When you reach a milestone, take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come and give yourself a pat on the back. It might seem like a small thing, but it can make a big difference in your attitude and your motivation. And before you know it, those small accomplishments will add up to big results.

Adjust as needed — if something isn’t working, change it up

The most successful people are often those who are willing to experiment and take risks. They know that if something isn’t working, they need to change it up. That’s why they’re always trying new things and They’re always open to new ideas. They’re not afraid to fail, because they know that failure is a necessary part of success. So if you’re not seeing the results you want, don’t be afraid to adjust as needed. Try something new and see what happens. You might just be surprised by what you can achieve.

Keep a journal to track your progress

For many of us, the idea of keeping a journal conjures up images of a leather-bound book filled with angsty musings about unrequited love and misunderstood teenage angst. However, journals can be useful for adults as well. In fact, keeping a journal is a great way to track your progress and stay motivated on your journey to reaching your goals. Every day, take a few minutes to write down what you accomplished, no matter how small. Over time, you’ll be amazed at how much progress you’ve made. And if you ever feel like you’re not moving forward as quickly as you’d like, you can flip back through your journal and see all the hard work you’ve put in. So don’t be discouraged if your first journal entry is about how your boss was being a jerk today or how you’re feeling fat and ugly. Just keep writing, and soon you’ll have a record of your journey that will inspire and motivate you to keep going.

Find a support group or buddy system to help you stay on track

Trying to make healthy changes can be tough, especially when you feel like you’re doing it alone. But going it solo is actually one of the worst things you can do when trying to improve your health. Instead, look for a support group or buddy system to help you stay on track. Studies have shown that people who have social support are more likely to stick with their healthy habits than those who go it alone. And it makes sense when you think about it- after all, it’s harder to give up on your goals when someone is counting on you. So whether you join an exercise class with a friend or start a weekend walking group, make sure you have some social support to help keep you motivated.

Habit change is hard — we all know that. But it doesn’t have to be impossible, and it definitely shouldn’t be something we put off until next week or next month. If you’re looking to make a real change in your life, start with these six tips and let me know how it goes in the comments. I’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!
