You need an idea to begin a startup, you will need many ideas to keep that startup going.

Today, one of my friends Whatsapped me saying, “How do we become an idea person from a person who only works?

And I sent these 5 points to him (explanation below):

This is how I have grown from a person who never got any idea to a person who gets them every day.

  1. Making a conscious effort for the brain to think ideas
  2. Being curious & more aware
  3. Focusing on the fundamentals
  4. Following good people on twitter, real-life & everywhere
  5. Becoming less or zero hands-on: free to apply all the above— making analogies and relations and more
  1. Making a conscious effort for the brain to think ideas — For me, this has always been the first step to grow at anything in life.

Be aware of what you are bad at and become conscious about improving.

Being conscious will lead you to do and attracting the below points in life.

2. Being curious & more aware

Ask questions. I think in recent times I have asked the funniest and weirdest questions to Google, my mentors and others.

When you want to know everything, you will become more aware and awareness helps in getting ideas.

3. Fundamentals — Becoming a person who knows & understands the fundamentals of what she is doing

Whatever you learn, always make sure to understand the fundamentals.

I have met hundreds of people offline and online and it's not necessary everyone knows fundamentals. Clear fundamentals make the people best at what they do.

When you understand fundamentals, you get more ideas.

4. Following good people on twitter, real-life & everywhere

You produce what you consume. Make sure you surround yourself with good people.

These people don’t have to necessarily be good at what you want to become but it works another way too — They should be good at their thing, core fundamentals about life and concepts should be clear and they will be able to influence you in anything in the best possible way.

5. Becoming less or zero hands-on: free to apply all the above — making analogies and relations and more

Don’t keep your calendar occupied with hands-on work all the time.

To be able to leverage the above 4 points well, you need time with yourself thinking about what matters to you the most (your startup or whichever is for you) and the ideas will come 😊

After doing all this, most of the times you will see yourself producing remix solutions (putting learnings from A to B and vice versa).
