After Black Friday and Cyber Monday for receiving, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to give back. Tomorrow, millions of people come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.

Hello Neighbor was founded in 2017 to improve the lives of recently resettled refugee families by matching them with dedicated neighbors to guide and support them in their new lives. Since then we have matched 72 refugee families (over 400 moms, dads and kids) with local Pittsburghers. We’ve also created a national movement to support new neighbors in communities across the country.

Every dollar goes towards supporting families. None of the funds raised tomorrow will go towards overhead or general operating support.

We know there are a lot of ways to give and you have a lot of demands for your generous donations. Here in Pittsburgh it’s GiveBig Pittsburgh, a city-wide initiative supporting local nonprofits. In addition, Facebook and PayPal are matching $7 million tomorrow for donations made on Facebook. We also have our website’s donation page. You might give through United Way at work or Benevity or through a Charitable Trust.

No matter where you give or how you give, we hope you consider making a donation to support our mission. It’s more critical than ever. While the borders are closing, many who are here are left wondering how to survive and thrive and that is where organizations like Hello Neighbor step in.

BONUS: We have a matching opportunity of $15,000 from one of our funders, USA for UNHCR. That means every $1 you donate on Giving Tuesday becomes $2. That is across all platforms!

Thank you for joining our movement. One neighbor at a time, we will build community together and support our newest neighbors to be more comfortable and confident in their new lives.
