Inaugural State of the Neighborhood
We had such a great time hosting our first Annual Meeting. Over 80 people joined us for an evening of storytelling, sharing our impact on the region and exciting announcements about what's next for Hello Neighbor.
As we reflect on our Inaugural State of the Neighborhood, we wanted to share some of our favorite moments with you.
We were grateful to hold the event at a beautiful neighborhood community beer hall + cocktail bar, Lorelei.
Everyone was overjoyed to eat delicious Bhutanese and Syrian treats prepared by refugee women in the Hello Neighbor program.
We released our 2018 Impact Report (which will be available online soon)...
And around the room, we highlighted some of our favorite moments from Hello Neighbor mentor & mentee relationships!
We were so excited to have Dan Gilman, Chief of Staff to Mayor Bill Peduto, and Anne Marie Tockett, Vice Chair of Hello Neighbor’s Board of Directors to kick off the event! They spoke about how Hello Neighbor helps build strong communities and makes Pittsburgh a welcoming city day in and day out.
Then, we heard from a Hello Neighbor match! Mentor Julie Kagler and Mentee Mukamazina Feresita spoke about their friendship and what their their Hello Neighbor relationship means to both of their families.
Founder Sloane Davidson shared specifics of Hello Neighbor’s impact over the last two years…
… and we were thrilled to announce the launch of our first-ever crowdfund campaign to support our newest initiative - the Advocate Program. The Advocate Program will support refugee families through specialized Advocate Teams, beginning with specialized support for new refugee moms & their children! (You can still donate to the campaign through June 20th!)
Finally, we want to give a big thank you to the over 80 friends, supporters, our Board of Directors, Advisors, Mentor and Mentee Advisory Councils, Young Professionals and Emerging Leaders Board, and all of the new faces that joined us for the night!
