We identified new innovation trends and dynamics in 3 new reports

Partnering with BCG, Startup Genome and Bpifrance to analyse the dynamics of the deep tech ecosystem

In ‘The Dawn of the Deep Tech Ecosystem’ we demonstrated how deep tech is no longer reserved for just the scientific community, with global private investment growing by 20% in recent years to reach almost $18 billion. We undertook the very first Life Sciences ecosystem ranking as part of the Startup Genome Global Report to find that smaller ecosystems like Lausanne, San Diego and Tel Aviv come out on top next Silicon Valley. Finally, after interviewing accelerators and deep startups in our network, we shared results on what really makes a successful deep tech acceleration program. Check out all reports here.

We launched the very first global gathering for the deep tech community…Deep Tech Week!

Along with fellow Founding Members: BCG, Bpifrance, EPFL and SOSV, #DTW2020 aims to initiate a new dialogue around deep tech as well as highlight and accelerate new innovations!

As well as having the official support from the French government, 50 leading organisations in deep tech have become official members of the initiative to organise 30 hand-picked events in emblematic locations all over Paris, culminating in our annual Global Summit. Join us in March 9–13th 2020!

We took startup-corporate collaboration one step further

Designing Corporate-Startup Challenges to give real growth opportunities to startups and answer real challenges for corporates

In early 2019, we saw the beginnings of collaborations between Hello Tomorrow startups with our corporate partners such as ArianeGroup and WeHealth by Servier! But it didn’t stop there. Looking to connect startups and major industry leaders, we got to work, and introduced: the Corporate Startup Challenge. Our Challenges foster corporate-startup collaborations to offer unique growth and business opportunities to some of the 12,00 deep tech startups in our network, and answer the specific industrial needs of large companies. 2019 saw the launch of the first four Challenges!Applications are still open to startups for the Orano Challenge and the Airbus DDMS Challenge. Watch this space for Air Liquide-AccelAir Challenge in 2020!

The Hello Tomorrow community came together, gathering over 6,000 people

From Tokyo to Turkey to Silicon Valley, in 2019 we organised over 25 events in 12 countries to help accelerate the transfer of emerging technologies

From Summits to meetups and thematic events, 2019 saw some spectacular events! Highlights included The Hello Tomorrow Singapore Regional Summit which saw the winners of the Singapore Startup Challenge crowned. eko.ai: automating the fight against heart disease, Shiok Meats: using cellular agriculture to produce clean meat and seafood, and SpeQtral: transforming the world’s networks for the quantum revolution, announced as this year’s winners. Our Regional Finals at the Africarena event saw the inspiring Erada Technology Alliance, developing a saliva-based malaria test awarded the winning prize!
