Hari Malaysia (Malaysia Day)
The 16th of September is celebrated by all Malaysians. HelloGold joined in the festivities by publishing a photo montage of its team, celebrating the diversity of its members and how epic it is to be a team from all walks of life.
Nomination for the ASEAN Rice Bowl Awards
There was more to celebrate in September for HelloGold! The ASEAN Rice Bowl Startup Awards is an award that celebrates the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Southeast Asian startup ecosystem, and HelloGold has been nominated for the Best Fintech Startup in Malaysia!
Rice Bowl is the ASEAN chapter of the Global Startup Awards, which is the largest independent startup competition in the world. Global Startup Awards has been recognising the best of the best in the startup ecosystems around the world since 2012.
Joining the SuperCharger Malaysia accelerator
Another great recognition of HelloGold’s groundbreaking efforts came as the startup has been selected to be part of SuperCharger Malaysia 2018!
SuperCharger is Asia’s leading Fintech accelerator with a mission to find, train and scale the next generation of change-makers by accelerating the pace of change of business and developing human capital.
This is great news for HelloGold and all its supporters, as it confirms HelloGold’s reputation and standing as one of the most promising fintech startups in the region.
HelloGold at JomLaunch
HelloGold was also present at JomLaunch on 22nd of October. JomLaunch is an event focusing on local Malaysian developers and innovative startups. Harith was invited to join a panel discussing how to fund startups, comparing ICOs with venture capital and equity crowdfunding. The HelloGold story was also presented to the crowd of 600 developers.
The World Economic Forum ASEAN 2018
In recognition of its commitment to financial inclusion and the positive impact on families and economies, HelloGold was recognised at the recent World Economic Forum ASEAN 2018 in Hanoi Vietnam. HelloGold was chosen by a panel of judges from start-up accelerators, venture capital funds, technology experts and media leaders, for its dynamism and innovative contribution to financial and economic inclusion. HelloGold’s co-founder Ridwan was invited to represent HelloGold at the event.
Technical
HelloGold App Development
The Tech team is currently putting the final touches before releasing Smart Saver, a new product feature that will help customers preserve their wealth in gold. This important feature will allow customers to get the best daily price on top of helping them to better achieve their financial goals. Quality Assurance (QA) is in charge of making sure HelloGold’s mobile phone app does not contain any mistakes or defects before any new update is made on the product, to ensure the best experience to our users. QA is doing the final tests and everything is on track for a release in early October 2018. Stay tuned for this exciting feature! HelloGold is also making small optimisations to the app such as saving users’ favourite payment options, deep-linking to informational pages for more user-friendly guidance of our new app features, and new features to make feedback easier for users.
Product Blockchain
The Tech team has completed the updates to the smart contracts for the token and exchange to be used on the product blockchain. They will now start deploying it in the development environment and conduct further tests. These contracts provide the core logic for supporting the buy and sell gold transactions which exchanges the fiat tokens held in the customer’s managed wallet into gold tokens of equivalent value less any fees.
GOLDX and HelloGold Tokens
There are some exciting developments on giving crypto-savvy users better access to purchasing GOLDX. HelloGold is in the final stages of completing the design of the application and also the supporting components to make this a reality. As GOLDX and crypto is available globally, the team is currently calling this new app the “Global App”. This application will complement the country localised versions and allow HelloGold to support customers that do not reside in the countries where HelloGold is currently present.
Regional Expansion
HelloGold is putting the final touches to the Thai app. All core components have been implemented such that relevant teams including Customer Support, Marketing, and Finance are able to use the application to start fine-tuning their processes. The team is preparing for a launch in the first new market outside of Malaysia.
QA Test Automation
HelloGold has now developed and put in place an automated testing platform that helps the QA Team test Mobile Applications more efficiently. By having this in place, QA is able to conduct regression tests in a matter of minutes rather than hours. Additionally, this helps the team release more often and with lower defects. QA can now spend more time defining the different test scenarios to ensure that HelloGold delivers quality releases.
Token
HGT Shariah Compliant
After the mobile app and GOLDX, it is now HGT’s turn to be officially certified as Shariah compliant. This certification will surely help make the token more appealing to Middle Eastern investors and Muslims all around the world, ahead of HelloGold’s expansion beyond its base in South East Asia. Shariah Compliance ensures HGT are available to all, without distinction, a necessary condition to deliver truly inclusive solutions.
Crypto Coin News interview
Robin has been very busy attending various events around the world in September, most notably IFN UK Islamic FInance Week and other Islamic Finance Events in Turkey and countries of the Middle East. Those journeys are great opportunities to promote HelloGold and meet potential partners. In between two events, Robin stopped in London and answered Crypto Coin News’ questions about the future of gold, bitcoin and his prediction regarding the next financial crash. ETHKL#4 first event to be hosted in HG’s new office space
Last but not least, the Ethereum community of Kuala Lumpur was invited for the 4th ETHKL meetup at HelloGold’s new office! HelloGold is committed to doing its part in the building of a great blockchain community in Malaysia, and is proud to co-sponsor ETHKL and to offer its offices to host the event. The evening was a real success, with a panel featuring Loi Luu of Kyber Network and Gerry of Coinhako moderated by Matthew of Etherscan.
