Business

AUM breaking the 20kg milestone fuelled by the joint promo campaign with Boost

In conjunction with Boost, HelloGold ran a Lucky Draw and Giveaway collaboration campaign from the 18th of February to the 24th of March. Users who added cash with Boost to buy gold on our app were eligible to win a share of RM138,888 worth of gold. This promotion saw a total of over 2,000 participants over the 5 week period and recorded the highest number of gold buyers for the year during the campaign period.

AUM jumped from 18.26 kg to 22.59 kg in March.

Facebook AMA: HelloGold founders answer questions from HelloGold app users.

On March 23rd, HelloGold co-founders Robin Lee and Ridwan Abdullah hosted a Live AMA on HelloGold’s Facebook Page. Over 150 questions were collected from submissions throughout the week leading into the Facebook Live event. A multitude of different questions revolving around the business, gold, the app and even the founders were addressed during the session. The video is available on the news feed of the FB page and has now reached over 1,300 views. We are looking to continue this as a series so watch this space.

Thai early adopters feedback survey

The Thai team has been collecting feedback from users 3 months after launching the HelloGold app in the country. The customers pointed out two major pain points:

  1. a slow top-up process. The top-up improvement was already planned, it will materialise via a partnership with a payment solution provider and will allow Thai customers to top-up seamlessly using their debit card.
  2. unclear in-app language. The team is already working on improving the in-app copy.

Technical

Cash to Gold feature

Until now buying gold was essentially a two-step process in the HelloGold app: a customer would have to first top-up his cash wallet balance and then proceed to “buy gold”. The HelloGold tech team released the “Cash to Gold” feature to merge both steps into one. In the new buy screen, customers can now choose to buy gold using the cash they have in their in-app wallet, but can also do so directly via online banking or Boost.

Dedicating more resources to deliver upgrades for the Thai market

There are important and exciting developments in the pipeline for the Thai app. Aside from the upgrade work on the top-up process, an exciting partnership with a major Thai brand is being developed. As a result, HelloGold is dedicating extra tech resources to those items in order to deliver them to the market as soon as possible.

Product Blockchain

The Product Blockchain has now been running for more than 40 days and HelloGold’s blockchain developers are monitoring it to identify issues and solve them. some minor performance issues were detected with the “cash out” oracle and are currently being fixed. The block explorer built to monitor transactions is proving to be stable and responsive and work continues to enhance the PoA (Proof of Authority) nodes and get the system ready to be tested with external partners.

Token

Global App

The app development is close to completion. Testing is still going on, both regarding frontend UI and backend transaction. The team is striving to bring to future users a gold buying experience as smooth as the one made available on the HelloGold app while accepting crypto payment.

Aside from frontend and backend development, the main task remaining is to ensure that the right processes and partners are used to circumvent the volatility of crypto assets from affecting the usability and durability of the app.
