With a new brand identity* already composed we teamed up with MobilePay and started working on a design overhaul, of one of the most popular apps in Denmark. Here’s the result.

The saying goes something like this: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it — so how do you go about changing the design of an app that already delights more than 4 million users?

Well for one we knew that simply replacing fonts and colours wouldn’t cut it. It would not be sufficient for MobilePay to feel like a newly-forged brand — it had to stand out and be different. Whilst honouring the simplicity of the primary function of MobilePay; sending and receiving money, every design decision had to be seriously considered.

Thomas Høgild, our Experience Design Lead, describes the result:

”We have designed a frictionless and well-integrated user experience, acting as a natural progression of the previous design. On top of that, the new design guarantees an intuitive and social user experience — without compromising any of the current functionalities.”

The new MobilePay design is in other words a natural progression of what it was — leaving behind the legacy of Danske Bank. MobilePay now fully stands on its own two feet.

Download (like you don’t all ready have it) or update the app to experience the new design.
