Birth Centers: All You Need to Know

When thinking of where to give birth two options come to mind, at home or in a hospital setting. We recently found out about another option, birth centers. Today we had the opportunity to learn about the Minnesota Birth Center. The Minnesota Birth Center is an organization that is separate from hospitals and is run by midwives. Below are answers to a few anticipated questions:

  • Minnesota Birth Center accepts insurance from most insurers
  • Minnesota Birth Center can provide routine pre-natal care
  • Women stay at the birth center for 4–6 hours after giving birth (unlike hospitals where women can stay for a few days after giving birth)
