2020 is here and like most Januarys, there are few new releases so I usually catch up on things I’ve missed or were released late in December. This month we have some gold so here it is… January 2020!

Son Little

Every time I look, Son Little has released just a little more of this album. I’ve been waiting for this for a year. He released single tracks or ep’s all over last year (and even this month) but finally “aloha” is here! Son Little has collaborated with The Roots and RJD2 and you can hear his beautiful soul gold through this album. Great start to 2020.

I wish I had heard this last year, but I am so happy I am listening to it now. Soulful, groovy and totally worth taking the hand of the lady or fella you dig and going for that dance. They are touring the states over the next few months so check them out.

Wikipedia tells me “JackBoys is a collective and group of American rappers signed to Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Records, which is made up of Scott himself, Sheck Wes, Don Toliver, Luxury Tax, and Scott’s DJ, Chase B.”
I don’t know anyone other than Travis Scott, but this release made mebounce around the living room.

A little bit Chromeo, a little Com Truise, a little Cut Copy and a lot of dancing. Nice album that could have been huge. Maybe it was, I don’t know much about this group of rapscallions.

This is super cool. Lots of collaborators and lots of sounds that sound like the hacking scene from a 1990’s movie.
Jonsi & Alex Sommers

2019
Very late in December this little piece of gold was released. Alex and Jonsi are the perfect couple. They write beautiful music together that makes your heart go boom VERY VERY slowly. This was released to accompany their tour. Super chill and beautiful.
