Continuing from my last post, on our second day we took a day trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia. The return bus tickets cost us about 32 euros each, and it was only a 3 hour ride.

As soon as we got in to Dubrovnik, we had to change money and buy bus tickets to get to the centre/old-town cos it wasn’t a walking distance. Dubrovnik is not cheap at all by the way, probably cause scenes from Game of Thrones are shot there, so it’s made the place really expensive. On getting to the centre the first thing we did was ask a tour guide about tour prices and where to eat. She told us that inside the old town food prices were more expensive (which we later found out wasn’t true, they were reasonable), so we ate out there, and opted put from going on any of the tours cos they were so expensive.

Fana and I ate at a an old Pizzeria (with no wifi), while Iyaloo went about looking for food that she could eat since she doesn’t eat white bread (she was rather upset about that). After eating we set off with a map in hand walking through the old-town. It was rather packed with tourists, but it was really pretty. We went looking for the Game of Throne sights (sites?) first. We went to where the Iron Throne is kept and then to the famous steps at kings landing I think, where the walk of shame was done on.

Moving on after lots of picture taking, we went looking for a beach, we were directed to some rocky beach/bar place, where we saw people jumping off a cliff. There was this girl, who didn’t quite have the liver, so we were all cheering her on and some of us telling her that she had nothing to prove, she didn’t have to jump. After much she eventually jumped, whoop!! We left for the docks and my friends went on a panoramic boat tour where you can see underwater (It cost them 10 euros each), while I waited.

As I waited I was looking through the map and found a nude beach located at Lokrum Island (Of course you know I had to go there), I had been wanting to go to one on this trip. My friends got back and I told them about it, so we took another boat (can’t remember how much we paid, but there’s also ferries which are cheaper) out there and arranged for him to pick us up where he dropped us off (illegal drop off point lol).

On getting to Lokrum Island, we went to look for food first, it was a long walk from where we were dropped off and we ended up at Lacroma Restaurant, it was nice and pleasant, can’t remember what we ate, all I know it was rather expensive but at least they had wifi.

We then went looking for the nude beach (FKK) which took like almost forever, we did get to this bar by the dead sea lake and met these nice waiters, who we asked about the nude beach, and told us we could get naked right there “it’ll make my day” he said. But we eventually found the Nude beach and we did see an Old saggy German as the waiter had warned us we would. Also saw one other nude man who ran past and disappeared.

Fana didn’t get naked with Iyaloo and I, she stayed upstairs with our stuff while we headed down to the rocks and the ladder that goes into the water. While we were prepping to enter the water, this group of about 10 Kayak-ers passed by us, lol they were laughing and we were laughing, they looked pretty shocked (sure they weren’t expecting to see two naked black girls on their kayak tour). To be honest them seeing us was the highlight of my day. I felt so liberated and at peace being naked and also being seen by strangers, felt like I had achieved something great. Hehe.

We almost missed the boat back, cos it took us a while to get back to the drop-off point, but we made it thankfully. Got back to the docks at the old town and saw these spanish sailors who we took pictures with and headed back to the Bus station to catch our bus back to Budva, which was greatly delayed, we didn’t end up leaving until like 11pm or something as opposed to 7.30pm when we were supposed to leave, so it was a long long wait, but our day was really fun and fulfilling. Thanks for reading and don’t forget to watch the video in the last post in case you missed it.

Take Charge,

Sonia.

PS: would you ever visit a nude beach?
