Do Projects Beyond Your Skill Levels

Just pushing your boundaries a little bit at a time will help you grow by leaps and bounds and make you more confident in your design skills.

Study Your Favorite Designers

Follow all of your favorite designers on social media, you will learn a lot just by understanding their thought process & the way certain things influence their style.

Learn Design From Books, Blogs & Other Resources

Pick whichever medium you can learn the best from. If you learn better from videos there are tons of design channels on YouTube.

Recreate Designs for Practice

By trying to recreate the work, you will learn a lot about technique and will gain a new appreciation for the talent of the artist.

Experiment

Design is all about taking risks and putting your own spin on things. Developing your own style comes from experimenting and willing to be different.

Ask For Feedback & Critiques

This is definitely the most humbling of all the ways to improve your design skills, also the most effective. You’ll never see your blind spots and get better if you don’t ask for feedback and invite critiques on your work.

Practice

The only way you can get better at improving your designs is through practice. You will never know unless you try. Pick a project, work through it. Each project will help you learn something new.

Bonus — useful designer tools for everyday usage:

Leadpages — lets you build beautiful, high-converting websites, unlimited landing pages, pop-up forms you can add to your other websites.
FlowKit — allows designers to create frighteningly fast user flows within Sketch and Figma.
Crello — a free graphic design editor that helps create images for social media, print, and other web-based graphics.
FlyWheel — is managed WordPress hosting built for designers and creative agencies.
