1️⃣ TRUST YOURSELF

You’ve invested in yourself and took the time to practice your craft endlessly, right? Stop overanalyzing and over-thinking every design or pixel. Trust your gut, you’ll be just fine.

2️⃣ BREAK SOME RULES

Go against the grain and think outside the box. Test designs that are abnormal, unique or that speak to YOU. Like Apple’s tagline states «Think Different.»

3️⃣ DON’T BE AFRAID TO FAIL

Failure is the key to growth. Try out that new edgy design or abstract concept. Try launching that product. Try building that business. Go all in on your dreams.

4️⃣ AVOID THE NAYSAYERS

Everyone has an opinion, listen selectively. It’s one thing if it’s constructive criticism, but if it’s simply projecting their negative opinions about your work, move along. You don’t have time for the BS.

5️⃣ WORK LIKE HELL

Intense passion and consistency. Think Malcom Gladwell’s 10,000 hours. If you put the hours into learning a programming language or design tool and set out to be a master at that tool, you’re going to win. One day, you’ll be able to leverage those learnings. It won’t happen overnight, but be consistent in your journey.

6️⃣ GIVE SOMETHING BACK

Pass your knowledge and learnings on to the community and help mentor people who are coming behind you. Some would call this paying it forward, and it’s a brilliant concept.
