How to start Freelancing? 👨‍💻

If you want to start freelancing and you have no idea how to prepare for it and what to expect, check it post 👇

Step 1

Make sure your portfolio is GOOD. It better be awesome!
Clients from freelancing platforms rarely want to know how many years of experience you have.
They better see that you’ve done a project similar to theirs…

Step 2

Pick a platform
Upwork, Fiverr…
You will need to spend a lot of time to get your first client.

Step 3

Make sure your profile is attractive and professional
Selfies on profile pic is a NO!
Make sure your description is written in the language that everyone understands (there is no reason for complicating sentences or using a lot of idioms)

Step 4

APPLY APPLY APPLY!
I had one month of NO client work at all as it was only talking, writing proposals, having calls, etc.
Make sure you have saved enough money to survive for at least 3 months!

Hint

Bad proposal = NO WORK
People hate spammy proposals. Don’t copy and paste same text to every job post.
They ask questions — you have to answer, they say their name — you need to notice that.
They often ask to put a “make sure you are not a spam” phrase so read the job posts carefully.

What will happen next?

  • you will be earning little at the start
  • you will do your accounting yourself if you have no money to pay someone
  • you will be a salesman and a designer at the same time
  • …and you will be a copywriter too…
  • …and your own time manager…

What else to expect?

  • some clients will expect you to be available right away (even if you sleep)
  • you will talk and write a lot hoping to get a job so prepare for unpaid hours
  • you will be working 7 days a week at the start so be strong, my friend
  • ou might feel lonely… I faced this. Maybe you will not.

BUT

If you have survived!
Once everything is settled and you have a constant flow of clients…
You will become the happiest person in the world.
I wish everyone to succeed!
