I tried to analyze my workflow and find the most popular transitions 🤔

Maybe here you can find something new for you and you can improve your animations.

All examples are my own works😋

I hope you enjoyed this material as much as me.

Which transition do you use more often and which one was new for you?
Zoom In/Zoom Out.
I guess it‘s one of the most famous transitions between scenes. But be careful when you work with a stroke. In a good video, stroke width ls always the same and doesn’t become thicker
when you zoom into the scene. Beginners don‘t pay attention to it, but not you :)
Shape Transition
This transition is second in our rating of popularity. Shape transitions were really popular in the past (maybe 7–8 years ago). Today I think it’s still actual but it should be modern: with new interesting forms, not only moving left or right. Otherwise, it can be out of fashion.
Morphing
Here we come to a cooler thing, but it takes more time. One frame transforms into second with a smooth transformation. It can be only one main object or the whole scene — your choice.
Parallax
I realty like this type of transition. It looks like a shape transition but its not. You have to create your scene with 3d layers (After Effects) and put one layer in front of other layers. It can be a watt of building, tree or something else. When you move your camera this layer hides everything behind. At this moment you can put another background or what you need.
X and Y position
And again. I didn’t copy a previous one :) It’s a super simple trick. You have to put a couple of scenes horizontally or vertically and just move them left-right or up and down.
Cut
It’s a transition without transition. When you just put your scenes one by one and that’s all. It’s used when you need to divide one part of the animation from another one and it looks logical. But also you can use this transition in a more creative way. In this example, you can see that I changed 3 backgrounds one by one and my character didn’t move in the frame. It’s a great tip when you need to show different places ( or time ) in a short period. If you add sound effects it will be really nice and simple
Rotation of the scene
Its another option of parallax effect but here we move not by X and Y axis. We have to rotate the scene and when the background becomes in front of you we can change the scene. Just like in my example.
