What is an MVP?

MVP is a minimum viable product. In Agile methodology of development, an MVP should deliver the very essence of a product in its most basic form. Minimum viable product features are selected in the way that they satisfy the needs of early adopters.

⚠️ An MVP has 3 key characteristics:

1️⃣ Has enough value so that people will use it or buy it

2️⃣ Demonstrates enough future value to retain early adopters.

3️⃣ It provides a feedback ability for users to guide future development.⠀

💰 What MVP gives to business:

1️⃣ Saves budget and time as MVP is the fastest version to release before the business can get feedback from the users

2️⃣ Gives an understanding of how to progress with development after gathering users’ feedback.

In my personal practice this is how we define an MVP on all projects:

📍Answer the question — what people from this particular industry really need?

📍What problem (s) that they face should the product solve?

📍List all the features and ideas

📍Think about the most selling features that business can benefit from

📍Make a mixture of features from p 1,2 and 4

📍Draft the concept

📍Ask people from the industry for opinion

📍Iterate⠀

I always think from both user and business side. All sources teach us (designers) about user-centered design but as you could see from my earlier posts we need to think about business too.
