So much to see
The great city of New York is overwhelming to me. Just standing in the subway tunnels and looking at all the suggestions for things to see makes me gape. Today, I looked at images of a painting by Vincent Van Gogh and one by Joan Miró side by side in an ad for a museum and I felt the same feeling I might if I were looking at them, plus an extra pinch at knowing I could actually go seek them out in the flesh and that I must or it would be a waste of opportunity and access. I know these art works. I have seen images of them before. But they have never been as tangible and imperious as they were in the subway. There is so much here. How do you go on living your everyday life when there is so much to see? Can you help me understand?
