When we were driving by Laramie Wyoming … we just had to stop at the University of Wyoming to see where our Buffalo Bills QB1 Josh Allen came of age.

They had some sweet Allen gear in the bookstore and this mannequin even had Josh Allen socks on. LOL

Cheyenne Frontier Days.

This was the thing that we all looked forward to the most. There’s a few reasons.

For me it was the memories. When we were here in 1988 it felt like the biggest and best thing in the world. We really experienced all Cheyenne had to offer.

The girls… I’ll be honest … really were looking forward to the rides and fair games. They kept referring to it as “the fair” I showed them videos months ago and the rides and fair atmosphere was what they really were excited about. They definitely enjoyed that part but they quickly saw that was a small part of the experience.

When we showed up, we realized that we weren’t dressed for the part. We needed cowboy gear! So we went right to the hat store and somehow after 20 minutes of us all trying on dozens of hats… we all ended up with.. the exact same hat. lol

Now that we look like real honest to goodness hard working down on the farm cowboys/girls (LOL) we were ready to take it all in!

Cheyenne’s frontier days has been going every year since 1897. It’s the worlds largest outdoor rodeo and known as “The Daddy of them All”. Every afternoon they have a rodeo and each day they do different events that all build up to the finals in the last days of the competition. We were there in the first few days of the overall competition so we were seeing some of the preliminary rounds.

These cowboys/girls were serious athletes. It takes a level of toughness that is hard to wrap your head around. Check out these quick videos I took to see why. Everything hurts just watching it! So impressive.

During the Rodeo… we had an extra special experience. The Thunderbirds were practicing for their show a day or two later. So we had bull riding below while F14’s were putting on a show above!

As part of the Frontier Days there was a pop up western village with western art and things… and this was the thing that caught my eye. As a Bills fan, how can you not want one of these Bison skin coats that will keep you warm at -140 degrees? It was only $2500!

Every 3–4 days during the Frontier Days they have a parade in downtown Cheyenne. The locals really come out for this both to be in it as well as watch. Each parade is different and on the weekends they are over 5 hours long because so many people, groups, and organizations show up to be in it. It is the best kind of western family fun!

Here’s the Thunderbird pilot’s!

The Frontier Days didn’t disappoint. The girls just loved it. All the festivities, concerts, and events really surround the “Daddy of ’em All”. It was so much fun to re-live these childhood memories.
