Making our Family Logo

Earlier this year we decided it would be fun to make a logo for our family. We came up with some ideas on what we wanted, thought about our values, and then hired someone online to design a logo. They came up with some ideas, we went through a handful of revisions, and we got to our final logo. We believe it captures us.

To figure out the logo we searched through a bunch of pictures. This specific photo hit home to us so the designer took it and ran with it.

We also wanted the logo to include nature, show fun, adventure… enter the hills, mountains, and trees. We wanted to show possibility, integrity, and faith… what is better for that than the sun?!

Here’s what we ended up with…

The Sign

So then we called up Parker Bray. He’s one of my St Bonaventure students in Entrepreneurship has an awesome business. He makes incredible things out of wood and has all sorts of CNC and laser engraving machines. Here’s Parkers sweet profile pic. Look at those dimples!

Check out Parker’s work on his Instagram page and while you’re at it… buy something from him. I keep telling him he should raise his prices but in the meantime… call him up before he does! https://www.instagram.com/raise_the_bar_woodworks/

The girls and I went to his shop and rolled up our sleeves to work with him and make a sign. This was such a great experience. (We took a break to pet the dogs and meet his parents… and then his mom made us lunch! It’s these type of experiences that are so memorable. We heard some hilarious stories about Parker growing up. Let’s just say he won the talent show in high school. If you want to know more… reach out to him and have him show you the video. It’s Epic!)

Here’s a pic of the outcome!

The Shirts

When we started planning our trip out west, we had an idea to make shirts with our logo. (We’d get a few of them and no one would know if we did laundry or not… lol).

Mark and Kara run Studio 4 East in Allegany, NY (https://studio4east.com/) and they do an amazing job making every kind of T-shirt you could imagine. I met them when they were part of last year’s Accelerator that I helped start. (We’re ramping up for the next Co-hort, find out more here: https://www.lainebusinessaccelerator.com/ )

When the shirts were ready, Mark gave us a tour where we learned how screen printing works… and not to wear nice clothes in the ink room. ;)

And then the big unveiling!

We just LOVE how they came out!

THIS is why supporting local is so awesome. Mark, Kara, and Parker love what they do and dropped everything to talk to us, show us around, teach us how things work, and just be people you want in your community. Feeling so grateful!

With our wardrobe now complete… we’re ready to head out… The mountains are calling!
