Helping Group: Who are we?
Summer 2020. Australia is engulfed in flames. Unlike past fire seasons, this crisis is impossible to ignore. The air is thick with smoke, obscuring our iconic clear blue summer skies. On the news, on social media, in overheard conversations, these fires and those displaced by them are the only topic of discussion.
It was in the midst of this disaster that Daniel, the organisation’s founder, had the idea to link fire affected evacuees with those who had beds to spare. This small project, named Helping Homes, quickly grew into something much bigger, with scope to soon reach well beyond fire relief.
One year later, Helping Group is now a not-for-profit organisation boasting over 20 members. Helping Group’s mission is to combat current problems with digital
solutions so the Australian people can connect and thrive together. Every day we fulfill this ambition as our varied new initiatives emerge onto the digital landscape.
