On April 1st, we launched Help Wanted Project to help candidates laid off due to COVID-19 land their next job. In 2 free month-long programs, over half of the participants now have new roles, many due to intros from the program. We’ve helped people now working for Rippling, LinkedIn, Twilio, TrueWork, ContentSquare, Life360, Omada Health, Reduct.video, and more.
While working with these candidates, the poor communication from companies and lack of consistency around levels, titles, salary, equity, and benefits was a common source of confusion and concern. As we continue the Help Wanted Project, we believe the most important thing we can provide is compensation review and offer negotiation help — especially given my background leading marketing at Carta, advising 81Cents, and volunteering with All Raise, and Deva’s background building financial tools and founding and advising companies.
We are now offering free compensation reviews for any candidate considering a venture-backed, private company offer.
Here’s how it works, all you have to do is fill out a form on our site:
- Submit company information — size, funding, sector, etc.
- Submit salary and equity information
- Tell us about your experience and the offered role
- We use various publicly available data sources and our experience helping and hiring candidates to assess the offer
- We come back within 24–48 hours with an email assessment of all parts of the offer, including advice on how to negotiate
We also built an equity calculator on our site that helps you get a sense of the current value of your equity and a hypothetical exit value.
Getting the wrong starting salary or an unfair equity grant can make a huge impact on a person’s career. We want to do our part to fix this.
In addition to offering free compensation reviews, we’re also offering low-cost paid offerings of the most successful programs from the Help Wanted Month-Long Program — group interview prep sessions and personalized 1:1 coaching.
