Smart Radar System recently received the Korean Prime Minister’s prize in the “2019 Radio Wave & Broadcasting Technology Awards.” SRS, as a startup, ranked second to the Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics, and ahead of others like LGU+, and SK Telecom. The company uses radar signal processing and algorithms based on machine learning and deep learning in diverse industries and applications.

Nebula Genomics

Nebula Genomics Inc. was the Best in Show winner at the 11th annual pitch competition during the South by SouthWest Conference. They were double crowned as both the “Best In Show” winner and the blockchain category winner. The company uses next-generation gene sequencing and blockchain technology to provide DNA testing. The company got a Y Combinator Fellowship and has raised more than $4 million in funding from investors.

metaMe Health

metaMe Health was highlighted in “Chicago Inno’s 2019 50 on Fire,” which awards 50 people and companies that are heating up Chicago tech. metaMe Health develops FDA-cleared Prescription Digital Therapeutics (PDT) for the treatment of gastrointestinal conditions. The company recently raised $3.8 million in a seed round of funding to grow its business.

Apprentice was named the best new product/service at Interphex for its pharmaceutical and biotechnology-specific augmented reality solutions. The company builds multi-tech systems using augmented reality, computer vision, and machine learning to empower scientists, engineers, and manufacturers who operate in various complex, compliance-driven environments. Apprentice was also selected by New Jersey Tech Council as the recipient of the 2018 Outstanding Technology Award.

Tensorflight

Tensorflight provides structured property data for the insurance industry by instantly analyzing aerial, satellite and street view imagery. The company won the GovTech Polska competition when they demonstrated how their technology could provide a solution to help customs departments detect illegal goods. The application allows quick and automatic identification of illegal objects in X-ray images by using accurate scanners at border crossings.

Alcatraz AI was just recognized with the New Product Showcase Judge’s Choice Award at ISC West 2019. Alcatraz AI uses 3D sensing for completely frictionless FaceID-like secure facial authentication for physical access control, replacing badging in the workplace, with AI-based anti-tailgating alerts and enrollment. The company was recently nominated to participate in the 2019 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program from AST. They will be competing against the industry’s leading providers of Innovative Cyber Security Solutions, as well as cutting edge Facial/IRIS Recognition Systems.

Tanvas

Tanvas was recently named a Cool Vendor in the Cool Vendors in Display and Vision, 2019 for their next generation of multi-touch haptic technology. The company uses use electrostatics to control friction and connect people to the digital world through rich touch interactions. The company also received notice for “The Biggest Chicago Tech Hires” when it announced Phillip LoPresti as its next CEO.
