Future has just dropped his new mixtape Beastmode 2 and it’s very underwhelming. In all honestly I am not a Future fan and this is the first project of his that I have ever listened to. This review is coming from someone with fresh ears towards Future outside of hearing his hit singles such as Mask Off.

Future intended to drop killer party anthems with BM2, but he just left us bored. There were very few tracks that were actually listenable and there were a lot of negatives with this project. First of all every song on BM2 sounded similar which made it extremely difficult to get through. The mixtape also consisted of uninspired hooks and lazy punchlines. Future’s delivery sounds identical on every track which left me praying for a flow switch or more features to break things up. It doesn’t get any better on the lyrical side of things. BM2 is very generic, with every track being about money or bitches which I understand is typical for a party project, but it just left me uninterested.

There were a couple of highlights on the project, one of them being the track DOH DOH featuring Young Scooter, which has a killer instrumental, and the only feature on the album which gave me a break from Future’s repetitive delivery. Another highlight of the album was the track 31 DAYS, on which Futures delivery and production appealed to me more than the rest. However even though these tracks were enjoyable, I can’t see myself listening to them outside of a club or a party.

All in all Future just dropped a very uninspired and repetitive mixtape which unless you’re a die hard Future fan is only good for one listen. If anything, there are a couple tracks you can add to a turn up playlist, but don’t be surprised if most people start yelling “NEXT!”

Fav Tracks: DOH DOH, 31 DAYS

Rating: 3/10

So yeah still not really a fan ay…
