It’s not often an artist comes along and demands your attention this strongly with their debut release.

In the build up to the release of her debut single, Auckland songstress Navy keeps asking us to “please be gentle with her”. It can be daunting to offer the result of months of energy to the online wolves, but we think Navy has nothing to worry about.

Led by a gorgeous piano and strings combination, Running In My Sleep takes the sensation of falling awake, sets it in slow-motion, and makes it peaceful. Despite immaculate production, Navy’s vocals are front-and-centre. This track is for anyone too exhausted to sleep, something that’s all too relatable. Created with the help of another kiwi superstar Thomston, Running In My Sleep is an incredible debut for Navy, and we can’t wait to hear what else she has to offer.
