Austria’s citizenship law is one of the most restrictive in the world, in spite of the global trend of countries increasingly allowing dual citizenship. According to migration experts from the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Austria is one of only 19 percent of countries in the world that do not recognize dual citizenship, but, there are exceptions.
Due to special exemptions in the country’s citizenship laws, Austria allows those who become citizens through Citizenship by Investment programs to maintain their existing citizenship.
