This time, we talk about Generative AI, product growth, and more.

I asked Malaysian developers how their companies send files beyond their organizations

Presentation by Jasmine

Jasmine, who works on the HENNGE Secure Transfer team since 2022, walked us through her journey of understanding the value of her team’s product. As a Malaysian national who started her first full-time job in Japan, she turned to an online community for Malaysian developers (Developer Kaki) to explore what “secure transfer” means in the Southeast Asian country.

The results (n=369) were fascinating: WhatsApp, a popular messaging app, came in first at 40%, followed by email attachments (19%) and in-house file-sharing tools (16%). This sparked a discussion amongst attendees on why WhatsApp is preferred (convenience, compatibility with both mobile and desktop, social acceptance to use personal account for work).

HENNGE Secure Download for Box

Sharing by Mika-san (left) and Imaizumi-san (right)

Next up, we had guest speakers Imaizumi-san (Product Planning and Research) and Mika-san (CS Sales) introduce a new feature in HENNGE Secure Download: integration with Box, an online storage tool used by many Enterprise companies in Japan. The speakers shed insights on how HENNGE approaches product development as they share market trends, customer pain points, and go-to-market plans with the audience.

Unpacking Stable Diffusion

Deep dive into Diffusion

Though labelled “Intermediate”, this was really an Advanced talk by Iskandar on Stable Diffusion, one of the hottest text-to-image models developed in 2022. A long-time practitioner of deep learning, Iskandar explained some of the techniques used in the model (Diffusion, Attention Layer, Classifier-free Guidance) as well as its limitations (copyright concerns despite ongoing research).

For those looking to try their hands on this model, here’s a tip from Iskandar: It’s best to train generative AI models in the cloud instead of using your local machine, as they require significant computational costs.

Approval for our dev and ops

Message from Doi-san

Lastly, Doi-san, who helps provide development-related data (= Github pull requests, Slack conversations, etc) to auditors, gave a lightning talk on the importance of approval for those in Dev and Ops teams. He argues that getting peer reviews and written approvals through Slack or Github is not for audit purposes; in fact, they are best practices that help us ship our code, deliver new values, and get feedback.

GIP Honor Day

Interns with Ogura-san, our CEO/CTO

We closed this MTS by biding farewell to our three interns, who are in fact our first batch of fully onsite interns since COVID. Although their graduation caps did not fit as snuggly as they usually do on Zoom, all interns received their certificates of completion in great spirits from Ogura-san, our CEO/CTO, in person.

Congratulations once again to our interns, and see you at MTS next month!
