Day 19— We Can’t Say It’s Wrong.

私にはもうすぐ4歳になる娘がおりまして、子どもの成長について話をしたいと思います。
子どもが言葉を覚えだすといろんな言い間違いをします。みなさんもお聞きになったことがあると思います。
代表的なところでいうと「エベレーター」とかですね。
まあこういうのを聞くと「ええな、かわいいやんけ」とか思いつつ、「エレベーターよー」とかうわけですが、これに関して諸先輩方からアドバイスをいただきました。
①言い間違いは直さなくてもいずれ直るから、訂正せずに楽しんだほうがよい。
②時がすぎるとどんな言い間違いをしていたか思い出せなくなってしまうので、どこかに書き留めておくほうがよい。
このblog記事でみなさまに伝えたいことは以上で、あとは余談です。
うちの妻は天才で、②について直感的に危機感を感じており、このアドバイスを伝える前から娘の言い間違いを記録をしておりました。ありがとうございます。
うちの娘の言い間違いを手元のメモだけでなく、公の場に記録しておくのもなかなかええんとちゃうかと思いましたので、今からそれをします。

私は Caporira Angola というものをやっておりまして、すぐにその話をしますが、私の先生( Mestre Moraes )は「子どもの言うことはすべて正しい」なんて言っておりました。
例えばポルトガル語で 「男性」は” homem “ 、「女性」は “ mulher “ と言いますが、子どもが女性のことを “ homa “ と言うことがあり、それは間違いではないよ、と。
女性名詞は語尾をaにするので、女性は homem の語尾を a に変更して homa だろうと想像して子どもがそれを言っちゃってもあながち間違いじゃないし、まあええやないかということですね。
これを聞いたときは「ふーん」とか適当に流していたのですが、娘の言い間違いを眺めているとこれも間違いじゃないんだなということに気づきました。
注目すべきはこれらですね。
でてこいでー（でておいでー）
おにげっこ（おにごっこ）
ふともみ（ふともも）
「でてこい」+「（呼びかける）でー」 を足して「でてこいでー」は別に間違いじゃない。
「おにげっこ」に至っては「おに」＋「逃げる」＋「ごっこあそび」なので、全く間違っていない。むしろ「逃げる」を付加していることで「おにごっこ」より多くの意味を包含しており雄弁です。
「ふともみ」は「ふともも」＋「もみ」でふとももの触感をありありと感じられ、言葉の意味を拡張しています。

娘が大きくなったときに「父ちゃんくさい」とか言い出すと思いますが、そんなときはなんとかしてこの記事に辿り着き「父ちゃんええやつ」と思いなおしてくれることを期待します。
I have a daughter who will turn 4 years old soon. Let me talk about my child’s growth.
When children understand words and start speaking, they make some language errors. I think everyone might have heard some mispronunication, for example, “ eveletator “.
When I hear such mispronunciation like this, I’ll have some lovely feeling to them and correct it by saying “No, it’s elevetor.”.
However, my friend gave me a piece of advice about that.
1. As children grow, these mispronunciations will definitely disappear.
2. As children grow, parents will forget these mispronunciations the children made.
That’s all thing I’d like to tell you all so far. And from here, let me continue my small talk.
Since my wife is a genius, taking the second point made by my friend to heart, she has started to take notes of every word our daughter mispronounces before I correct her. Thanks a lot.
I think it’s better to record my daughter’s mistakes in my memo but also in public space (this article), I’ll do it from now.
Examples of mistakes

onigekkko（onigokko : tag）
futomomi（futomomo : thighs）

Since I’m learning “Capoeira Angola” and I tend to speak about it. My teacher, Mestre Moraes, said “Everything children say is correct.”
For instance, “man” is “homem” and “woman” is “mulher” in portuguese. Children might say homem as “homa” by mistake by changing the ending of the word like feminine noun, but we can’t say it is incorrect.
It has gone in one ear and out the other. But now, after I reviewed my daughter’s mistakes, I’ve noticed that we can’t say these are incorrect, too.
I think these words are especially worth noting.
detekoide-（deteoide- : come out!）
onigekkko（onigokko : tag）
futomomi（futomomo : thighs）
「detekoi : come out」+「de-」=「detekoide-」is not a mistake. This is just a composite word. Everyone can understand the correct meaning of this word.
「onigekko」=「oni : demon」+「nigeru : run away」＋「gokko : pretend playing」must not be incorrect. I think 「onigekko」is eloquence because it has more meanings rather than「onigokko」by containing 「nigeru : run away」.
「futomomi」=「futomomo : thighs」+「momi」 We could imagine the texture of thighs from the word “momi”. It’s expanding the meaning of the word.
When my lovely daughter has grown up and started saying “Dad smells bad”, I hope she will find this article and change her mind “I love Dad”.
