I wasn’t originally thinking of sharing something that happened to me a few days ago. But enough women are subjected to the same feelings of shame and discomfort daily, and it should never be on us to bear the brunt as we’re not the ones offending. Plus the more we open up, the more these issues become common knowledge, and therefore the easier they can be challenged. I believe that by sharing these stories, women can have their very real experiences validated. So here it goes.

Some of you may be aware of the lovely online lingerie shop Rihanna created a little while ago: Savage X Fenty. Women (and men!) of all colours and sizes are welcome to browse the catalogue of beautiful and comfortable pieces, without any body shame or discomfort. Kudos to Rihanna for creating such a space and a successful business. The prices though tend to be on the higher end so people like me (in a lower income range) are mostly left to browse. However, their membership system slashes prices somehow, and there are very good sales to look out for. And so it happened, that I was able to acquire a small number of items to try on and decide whether to keep.

I placed the order online and made sure to divert my parcel to a collection point instead of it being delivered…
