A new campaign tackles myths, rumors and misconceptions about family planning

Using the slogan A dream without a plan is just a wish, Marie Stopes Ethiopia has launched a new campaign to highlight how using contraception is key for women and girls to realize their dreams for the future.

Currently, only one in four Ethiopian women is using a modern method of contraception, and unmet need remains high, particularly in rural areas and among unmarried women. Marie Stopes Ethiopia’s campaign aims to increase access to family planning services, using a mix of channels to promote the benefits of contraception and tackle common myths.

Because family planning isn’t discussed in families and communities, young women are often afraid of being seen as radical for seeking out information about their contraceptive options. The campaign gives a positive, inspirational entry point for those conversations by centering family planning on their dreams for the future, including their career and educational goals.
