This week’s WNBA action highlighted what we already knew: these players can put up some stellar numbers. Let’s see what some of the league’s best stats were this week.

Riquna Williams: 1.49 Points Per Scoring Attempt

Maria Noble

At first glance, Riquna Williams’ 1.49 points per scoring attempt definitely seems like a high number for the week. But that overall average doesn’t even tell the full story. Her 1.49 points per scoring attempt come despite a zero-point performance against Dallas when she shot 0-for-6 from the floor. How did she still get her numbers for the week so high? By dropping 25 points in only 15 minutes against New York in the Sparks’ 80–54 victory. Her points per scoring attempt for that game came to a ridiculous 2.27.

She made seven three-pointers in 15 minutes, only missing two. During a four minute stretch in the second quarter, Williams made one three-pointer per minute. She did the same during a three minute stretch in the fourth quarter. She made both of her two-point attempts and also grabbed three steals on the defensive end.

Sylvia Fowles: 35.1% Defensive Rebound Rate

Chris Poss

Sylvia Fowles has been on a rebounding tear so far this season. She totaled 32 rebounds combined in her first two games of the season. This week, she’s at it again. She grabbed over one-third of the defensive rebounds available to Minnesota while she was on the floor for a defensive rebound rate of 35.1%. As a result, she totaled double-digit rebounds in each of her three games this week.

Her best performance came against Dallas when she grabbed 17 total rebounds with 13 of them coming on the defensive end. She’s averaging 11.9 total rebounds this season which would be a career high for her if she maintains this pace. She’s now averaging 7.9 defensive rebounds, which would tie her career high as well.

Elena Delle Donne: 9.7% Block Rate

Chris Poss

Elena Delle Donne’s flashiest numbers often come on the offensive end, but this week her defense is what really stood out (in addition to her 30 points against Chicago). She posted a block rate of 9.7% by blocking a season-high four shots in Washington’s first game against Chicago and two in their second matchup. She also had one steal in each of the games.

Even with this week’s performances factored in, her block rate currently sits at 3.6%. She could continue to raise this number as the Mystics begin a stretch of four home games with a rematch against the Connecticut Sun.
