10 Things to do before the Cold Comes

It is happening…slowly, but surely the weather is going from warm and sunny to cool and breezy. “Cool” means that cold weather and snow are not far behind. While this isn’t an issue for some people, *side eyes south Florida*, for most, cold means days and nights spent locked away in a heated tower, streaming shows and ordering in. Before you rededicate your life to Netflix and grubhub, check out our list of things you should do in Atlanta, Chicago, the DMV, and New York before the cold hits.
ATLANTA — Jasmine Mitchell
Blue Ridge Scenic Railway — From September to November this railway company offers a Fall Foliage tour by train through the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. It’s less than a two hour drive from Atlanta and perfect for all those fall photo ops that your IG feed is missing.

Haunted Pink Trap House — What happens when 2 Chainz partners with one of the scariest haunted house experiences in the U.S.? The Haunted Pink Trap House, of course. With tributes to the classic horror films of the ’80s and ’90s and an “urban legend twist”, this is sure to be another ‘gram-worthy experience.

Universoul Circus — I have fond memories of this circus from when I was a kid. It is the largest U.S. based circus in operation and showcases a diverse group of performers. The circus is only in town until November 4 so get your tickets soon!

Jack’s Pumpkin Nights — “Whether you’re seeking a striking nighttime lights display, an outdoor pumpkin-themed party or a one of a kind corn maze, Jack’s is the most expansive, fall-ified beer and cider garden for city dwellers.” This pop up will only last for four weeks, so enjoy it while you can!

Field of Screams — What is fall without haunted houses? This haunted house in particular gives you options of doing just a trail ride, going in a haunted house with people chasing you with chainsaws, or a package that includes everything!

Fall on the Mall- In DC all the monuments and museums are free and mostly within walking distance to one another. With crisp cool air and beautiful shades of turning leaves, it’s the perfect time to finally see that monument or museum you said you would visit all summer!

The DC Wharf — In southwest DC, just down the hill from the National Mall and monuments is the newly renovated DC Wharf filled with restaurants, bars, a concert hall and of course, the famous Municipal Fish Market. There’s plenty of rooftops, outdoor seating and entertainment to enjoy before these cooler temperatures drop lower.

NEW YORK — Monet Victoria
The High Line — This is a great way to take in the beauty of New York City. The high line allows you to see some of New York’s best architecture. It ends in the meatpacking district which has restaurants for every palate. The best part about this experience is that it’s free.

Location — The entrance is located on 34th street and 12th Avenue.
Brooklyn Brewery — This a great place to try your seasonal favorite beers before it’s swapped out for winter brews. Located in Williamsburg, this brewery gives you a great variety of beers on tap.
Price — The reservation tour is $18. The tour is roughly 40 minutes and comes with a souvenir glass.
