Intimacy.

Noun that in the dictionary means very close relation, familiarity, intimate friendship. But also the ability to handle or drive something, environment where you have privacy, tranquility, warmth.

I call it feeling at home in the presence of someone. Do not need filters, masks, makeup.

Intimacy is not only going in the bathroom with the door open, drink the salad dressing straight from the plate in front of someone, share the tablet, borrow the t-shirt to sleep or use the same toothbrush. But knowing that you can do all this — and many other things more — without having to worry about what the other will think.

It is not time that defines this. You can live decades with someone and never feel at ease. Or someone may appear and suddenly you feel that there’s nothing in your life you couldn’t share with that person.

Intimacy is energy, it’s how much there’s of you in the other, it’s being understood without judgments, it’s feeling free to be what you are knowing you will be loved by or despite all of that.
